When we created Snack Packs, our goal was simple: to make healthy snacking easy, accessible, and enjoyable for everyone. What we didn’t expect but have been so grateful to see are the diverse and meaningful ways our customers have been using their snack boxes to support their daily routines and overall wellbeing.
One of our long time customers, Steve, recently shared a powerful story about how Snack Packs have become an essential part of his everyday routine, particularly after being diagnosed as neurodivergent with adult ADHD. While we are not medical professionals and always recommend consulting healthcare providers for personalised advice, we wanted to highlight Steve’s experience as a real world example of how healthy snacks can support structure and consistency, especially when navigating new health routines.
Finding a Routine That Works
Steve has never been a “three meals a day” person. Like many of us, breakfast was often skipped or forgotten. But after receiving an ADHD diagnosis and beginning supervised treatment, he found that his medication wasn’t working as effectively as it should.
After a conversation with his specialist, it turned out that the medication needed to be taken at the same time every morning after eating something. Fortunately, it didn’t need to be a full breakfast. A simple cereal bar or light snack would do the job.
This small but crucial change led Steve to rethink how he approached mornings. With Snack Packs already part of his monthly subscription, he realised that the solution was already in his kitchen.
Now, around 10-11am each day, Steve reaches for one of his snack box items, often a protein bar or healthy treat to kick off his day properly. It’s not only helped with the effectiveness of his medication but has also added a welcome bit of structure to his day.
In Steve’s words:
“If I was given this instruction before I started using Snack Packs, before I had a regular daytime eating pattern. I would suddenly be looking for a solution to help me get a routine in place, and would have found Snack Packs to be perfect.”
Snack Packs and Neurodivergence: A Real Life Case Study
While Steve’s story is just one customer’s experience, it opens the door to an important conversation about how food and routine go hand in hand. For many neurodivergent adults, including those with ADHD or autism, executive functioning challenges can make meal planning or sticking to structured eating habits more difficult.
Having a pre-selected assortment of snacks delivered each month can make a real difference. Our customers often tell us that it removes the stress of decision making, reduces impulsive food choices, and offers easy, quick snack options that can be grabbed when needed most.
In Steve’s case, the healthy snack subscription model has become more than just a convenience, it’s a form of support that fits seamlessly into his lifestyle.
Could Snack Packs Support Other Health Routines?
Steve also raised an insightful point in his message to us, he believes there may be other ways Snack Packs could support individuals navigating health related routines. For example, he mentioned people living with diabetes or those using medications like Ozempic, which can reduce appetite. While we don’t claim to offer medical advice, it’s clear that a small, consistent intake of the right foods can play an important role in these situations.
Even in such cases, having access to nutritious snacks, already portioned and ready to go, may help bridge gaps in appetite or energy levels throughout the day.
The Power of Community Feedback
At Snack Packs, we’re continuously inspired by stories like Steve’s. They remind us that we’re not just delivering snacks, we’re helping people build healthier habits, explore new food options, and sometimes even support larger health journeys.
Thanks to Steve’s detailed feedback, we’ve already made improvements to how we personalise snack selections and the types of products we include in our boxes. His story is also helping us consider new ideas for collaborations, including exploring conversations with NHS trusts or dieticians, who may one day see value in sharing Snack Packs as a helpful resource for patients working on routine based care plans.
